We are specialists in data recovery from SSD drives, hard drives, RAID systems, phones and pen drives among other media. We can recover data from any digital storage device that has logical, mechanical, electronic and/or electromechanical failures.
The process of data recovery from SSD drives and Flash memory devices is much more complicated than the usual data recovery from traditional hard drives. The next generation of Flash using memory card-type storage devices and SSD hard drives is on the way. Salvagedata expert in SSD data recovery are now prepared to successfully recover data from this type of device.
What About Flash Disk Data Recovery?
Everyone is used to mobile phones, digital cameras, USB sticks, SSD hard drives and many other mobile devices. They help us listen to music, save our documents, photographs and other personal data. Almost all of these devices use small Flash memory chips, called NAND chips.
These chips are low cost, flexible and small in size – so it’s no surprise that they are widely used. Mobility is synonymous with the modern world, but how can we imagine mobility without mobile devices?
Data Recovery Tools
The more capacity the Flash drive has, the more data that can be stored on it, and the more data that can be stored on the drive, the more valuable it is. This is why Flash data recovery technologies have grown and become more and more important today. The internal structure of Flash drives is quite complicated and its data recovery process is really complicated. However, we have a tool that can analyze each Flash data recovery case using semi-automatic methods to recover the data. The tool we use is the PC-3000 Flash.
The Flash drive has memory chips and a controller. The controller writes and reads data from the chip memory in a special order called “Data Mix”. Each Flash drive manufacturer has its own controller and its own type of “Data Mix”.
In most cases of Flash data recovery, the Flash drive has damaged controller and healthy chip. The PC-3000 Flash utility allows us to read data directly from memory chips and reconstruct it.
In general, we can divide the reasons why the user’s data may be inaccessible and therefore need to recover data from it into two types:
Damage to Flash Memories
- Logical damage to the unit. This is physically detected in the system through the usual connection, but has damage that prevents access to the user’s data in the standard way with the operating system.
- Physical damage to the unit or damage to the service area. These cause impossible access to the contents of the microchips’ Flash memory. This type of damage is more frequent than the first.
Hardware and Software Tools for SSD Drives
Purpose
We have a professional tool to recover data due to physical and logical damage based on Flash storage devices. Based on the hardware and working in conjunction with the software, a powerful algorithm is created to recreate the data structure in automatic and manual modes.
Supported Models
It is compatible with almost all memory cards (SD, SM, MMC, USB Flash, Memory Stick, CompactFlash, etc.), with damaged controller, or with serious physical damage to the PCB.
PC Flash Reader
The Flash drive has a controller chip and Flash memory chips. The controller chip is responsible for sorting the data that is written/read between the memory chips, defect lists and some other functions that are necessary for the proper functioning of the Flash drive. Memory chips are used only to save data.
Most of the time in the Flash drives; the damage is located in the controller. With PC-3000 Flash it is possible to desolder memory chips and directly access their raw data. That is why PC-3000 Flash has a specialized reading device – “PC Flash Reader”.
Controller Emulator
As said before, the controller is responsible for sorting the data and transmitting it between the memory chips. PC-3000 Flash is used to emulate controller actions and to set data to readable format. When the order of the data is restored, it is possible to proceed with the recovery of user data.
Automatic and Manual Modes
Each controller has its own data transmission method, and this method is called “Data Mix”. With PC-3000 Flash we have a very extensive driver database, “Data mixes”. The special mode analyzes the mix of raw data and helps you select the most suitable solution for your Flash storage device.
On the other hand, if the driver is unknown, it is possible to try to restore the order of the data manually, by applying the operations to the raw image data.
Features of Data Recovery from SSD and Flash Memory
The most frequent reasons for damage to flash drives are electrical and thermal problems.
Electrical Damage
Static electricity, poor power cable connection and other power problems are the cause of the controller burning out, making any access to the contents of the Flash memory microchips impossible. In case of short-term disturbances in the power supply, the controller, as opposed to being damaged, can cause failures in the modification of data in the memory microchips, so the logic of the work translator mechanism will be damaged, which is similar to that of the controller is damaged judging by the external characteristics.
Considering that the controller works with data blocks of the minimum size of about 128 kb, this short time of failure can lead to the complete deletion of the main file system structures, which will make further operation of the drive impossible.
Overheating
While you are working, the components of Flash storage devices produce heat. It is often not cooled enough, due to the tendency to minimize these devices to favor their presence.
Flash Chip Data Recovery
If the Flash storage device is not recognized in the system or the data cannot be accessed, the following steps will help us obtain the data:
- Solder all the microchips from the memory disk using the soldering station.
- Read data from microchips with the Flash reader.
- Run the raw data analysis operation and select the most appropriate recovery method to recover the data depending on the known driver type. If the Flash drive is not recognized, and the utility cannot find a suitable recovery method automatically, we can recover the data by applying the operations manually.
Tips
The new technologies implemented in storage devices increase day by day not only their storage capacity but also their operational security. However, we recommend that you systematically make backup copies of mobile phones and smartphones, as well as hard drives, RAID systems or any other storage media in service. In the event of a failure or unforeseen breakdown, we can thus recover the data by accessing the backup system.
If you still cannot access your data, contact Salvage SSD data recovery before starting any data recovery process. When the data is very valuable and essential, only a company specialized in recovering data from smartphones, tablets, hard drives and RAID systems will be able to give you a solution with guarantees.
