Sons IE – How Effective is Finasteride?

    AndyBy AndyFebruary 10, 2025No Comments3 Mins Read

Finasteride stops hair loss in men, but how effective is the medication? It is one of the most commonly prescribed hair loss treatments on the market, so we wanted to examine the rates at which Finasteride works for men, so you know what to expect and how you can help with the process.

    How Well Does Finasteride Work?

Typically, Oral Finasteride works in around 80% of men who take it for a prolonged period as directed. Consuming the tablet once every day without missing doses is the best approach to getting your hair in its best condition to produce thicker strands. If you miss a dose, you should never double up next time because this will affect the results.

The purpose of Finasteride is to restrict Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) from being created in your body by testosterone. Research has proven that DHT is the primary reason men experience androgenetic alopecia, so your genetic disposition to the hormone is why your hair spends most of the time in its resting phase and not in its growth stage.

Finasteride can work even more effectively when paired with Topical Minoxidil, a serum revitalising the scalp and hair follicles. Having two routes of attack working in tandem against hair loss is more likely to benefit the condition of your hair.

Better still, combining both prescribed medications with great quality shower products and hair supplements increases your chances of stopping hair loss and putting your hair in the best position for regrowth as much as possible.

    Extra Information About Finasteride

The likelihood that any side effects from Finasteride will occur is slim. However, knowing these side effects is a good idea, so you should be fully prepared. A drop in your sexual desire and possible rashes are the most commonly reported side effects, but you’re still very unlikely to experience them. If you notice these signs, stop taking the medication and speak to your doctor. Then, the side effects should subside quickly.

Suppose you have found that Oral Finasteride is no longer your preference, possibly because you’re experiencing one of the rare side effects or you prefer the topical application. In that case, you can speak to a hair loss consultant, and they will tailor a plan for you. Getting a Finasteride-Minoxidil spray that combines the best elements of both prescribed drugs into one handy application is possible, too.

You must consult a hair loss specialist before receiving your Finasteride prescription. Your hair loss severity will be measured on the Norwood Scale to determine the best course of action; then, you’ll be given the appropriate treatment to suit your needs. If it’s deemed Finasteride is best, you can expect the treatment to work within 9-12 months after commencing it, as long as you maintain consistent use as directed.
